Our fabulous fellows have been working tirelessly over the past 9 months on two social innovation projects moving Tulsa forward. They’ve travelled all across the nation, conducted research (and 80+ expert interviews!), talked to national and local leaders, formed hypotheses and tested their ideas through successful pilot programs.
Each year in May, their work comes to life at Mine Final Presentations. Final Presentations are a chance for our Fellows to show off all of their hard work and present their recommendations and actionable next steps to community stakeholders. With 130+ in attendance, it’s quite an event and an exciting time to be at The Mine!
This year we heard from Mine Alumna Sofia Nagda and Sharon Gallagher of The United Way on the continued impact of last year’s Bridge Team.
Our Mine Fellows presented their high impact expansion strategy for Global Gardens, a hands-on science and peace education program transforming underserved schools across Tulsa. With the development of two new business models including professional development trainings and a customized online platform, Global Gardens is poised to reach 25,000 children in just five years.
We also heard from our Kitchen Incubator team working alongside the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation to develop Tulsa’s first sustainable kitchen incubator. With a goal to position underserved food entrepreneurs for success, our Mine Fellows developed curriculum for and piloted their first accelerator program, creating a sustainable business model with a distribution network.
Even after the amazing presentations (can you tell we’re feeling proud?), good things are still yet to come. Fellows complete their work alongside their project owners and present their recommendations to be implemented.
We’re looking forward to hearing two more powerful updates from our projects next year!
