Do you have an innovative idea for social impact? Apply for the Tulsa Area United Way Innovation Grants!
Last year, a team of The Mine Fellows (named The Bridge Team) worked alongside the Tulsa Area United Way to stimulate innovation in the social impact sector through a concept test funding model.
This summer, the Tulsa Area United Way announced its new Innovation Grant program, awarding up to $300,000 to BOTH individuals and non-profit organizations that develop creative ways to address community issues.
What’s new about the Innovation Grants? Well, in addition to funding for non-profit organizations, awards in smaller amounts of $1,000-$5,000 will be awarded to “early stage ideas” to individuals with a fiduciary agent.
Per the recommendation of The Mine Fellows, applications are short and concise, lowering the barrier of entry for applicants. Additionally, the grants will be awarded following a Pitch Night for each grant type (agencies and individuals, respectively.)
The Innovation Grant agency application is available at www.tauw.org/InnovationGrant and due October 31st. Individual grants open on November 17th and are due November 28th. Individual grant applications are available at www.tauw.org/innovationgrantindividuals.
Congratulations to the United Way on the launch of this new grant program and to our Mine “Bridge” Fellows on the implementation of their recommendations!
As we understand, the Tulsa Area United Way hopes to fund Innovation Grants each year.
